New Category of Posts: Diet & Exercise

I am currently trying to make up my mind about how serious I need to be about my health.

Now, that is not to say that I don’t take my health seriously.  I’m just not committed to being serious about it all of the time (or even some of the time).  My pattern of behavior has been a series of half-baked attempts to “get serious,” about 2 to 3 times a year for the past decade. (Oi vey! I’m gettin’ old!)  My attempts last a couple weeks at best, 1 week at the worst, and cover a variety of methods; diets and/or exercise.  Image

I have be concentrating on dieting. Or at least that’s what I’ve been telling myself while I avoid the gym.

I hate the gym. Well, I don’t necessarily “hate” it, but I definitely hate having to pay for it.  It’s like paying to torture yourself, physically and mentally.

I am intrinsically lazy. And I am trying to overcome that laziness.  I’m still trying to wrap my brain around the idea of pushing myself consistently.  I can push one day, and then for the next week not push myself at all because my brain reasons out that I’ve already done enough work for the week.  But, if I can push myself consistently I will be rewarded for my hard work with better and faster results.

Anyways, part of my plan is to blog about it.  Writing always helps me, I just wish I was consistent with it (there’s that word again).  So, I’m creating a new category called “Diet & Exercise” – simple and to the point.  (I’ve also been considering changing my other categories, as no body but myself understands them.)

I need to pick a day.  Sunday is good, usually not very busy then, especially at night…..

Ok, day picked, now I just need to actually sit down and type on that day.  I want to chronicle my efforts to help keep myself moving forward and not lose the momentum.

I want to talk about the exercises I do, and their frequency.  I want to talk about the food I cook and eat, especially now that I am lactose-intolerant.  I want to express my self doubts and fears. You know, the usual.

I’m always finding tips and tricks on Pinterest and other websites (Precision Nutrition and LiveStrong to name a couple), and I like to give them a try.  At least, I hope to try them.  I always print the instructions out and take them home, but I think most of them are in a corner somewhere, forgotten.  But, so long as one routine or method actually works for me, on several levels, then I’m gonna keep it around.

So, that’s my plan-ish. I wanted to get this idea down “on paper” before it ran out of my mind.  I will come back!
